Submission Requirements

Submissions for the Shorttakes Student Film Festival will be accepted from colleges and universities within the United States. Films must be less than ten minutes long and fall under the categories of either animation/digital media or film narrative/live action. You are allowed to submit any film you have made within the past school year. You may submit more than one film, so long as each includes its own submission fee and submission form.

This year, we are switching to online-only submissions to save you on postage and us on time. To submit your film, you will need to upload your film to YouTube, and then share that file with us. Please read the instructions below for more information about uploading to YouTube.

As soon as we have received all parts of your submission, a Campus Events staff member will send you a confirmation email to notify you that your submission has been received and that it meets our requirements! Finalists will be announced by Tuesday, May 10th, 2011.

Uploading to YouTube

After you have uploaded your film to YouTube in the highest definition possible, under Broadcasting and Sharing Options please select either "Public" or "Unlisted." Marking a film under "Public" means that anyone can access it, and marking it under "Unlisted" means that only users who have the URL for your film can access it. Once you have finished selecting the settings for your uploaded film, go to the page to play your film and copy the URL address for this page. This is the URL you will include in your application so that we can view your film.

Please do not remove your film from YouTube until the Festival's finalists have been announced or we will not be able to include it in judging.

Important: please remember that your film must be 10 minutes long or less. Films longer than 10 minutes will be automatically disqualified.
